Why This Class Matters
Biblical marriage is not protected merely by telling people they can never leave. It is also protected by treating the covenant’s obligations—and the people inside it—as real.
Some Christian teaching makes marriage sound disposable. Other teaching protects the institution while leaving a wounded spouse unprotected. Neither approach is sufficient.
Christians often quote individual divorce passages without accounting for the question being answered, the historical and legal setting, the difference between the marriage ideal and laws addressing broken marriages, or the relationship between Torah, Jesus, and Paul.
Careless interpretation has real-world consequences. This class will examine the relevant passages carefully, while taking both the lifelong vision of marriage and the reality of betrayal, abandonment, abuse, neglect, and human vulnerability seriously.
What We Will Explore
The class will follow the argument at a high level, tracing the relevant questions without pretending every controversy can be settled in a single hour.
What does covenant faithfulness require beyond remaining legally married?
What do Exodus 21 and Deuteronomy 24 protect or regulate?
What first-century dispute stood behind the question Jesus was answering?
How does 1 Corinthians 7 address separation, mixed-faith marriages, abandonment, and peace?
Which conclusions are explicit, and which depend on reconstruction or inference?
This is a focused overview, not an exhaustive treatment of every passage or personal situation. The goal is to give you a clearer biblical framework, identify where the evidence is strong or disputed, and help you ask better questions.
Four Distinct Questions
The class will help clarify why these questions are connected—but not identical.
Immediate safety is not a theological reward someone earns after resolving every interpretive question.
Separation and safety planning are not automatically identical to a final conclusion about divorce.
This requires careful attention to covenant obligations, biblical texts, context, and the facts of a situation.
The remarriage question is related to divorce, but it should not simply be assumed to be the same question.
Collapsing these questions creates both interpretive and real-world confusion.
What Is Included
The $25 recording package includes lifetime access to the class, complete transcript, slides, and downloadable materials.
About the Teaching Approach
The goal is not to win a debate or hand out personalized rulings. It is to read the texts more carefully, state the evidence honestly, and understand what responsible application requires.
This class offers biblical education and a framework for thinking more clearly. It does not provide personalized spiritual, legal, mental-health, or safety advice. No one needs to resolve the theology of divorce or remarriage before taking appropriate steps to become safe.
